Terms of Service

The Short Version (TL;DR)

We know legal texts are long. Here is a summary, though the full text below is what legally binds us.

• You own your data. We do not claim ownership of your CVs, job descriptions, or interview recordings.
• AI output is practice material, not professional advice. Feedback is for preparation purposes only.
• Subscriptions auto-renew. You can cancel at any time before the next billing date. We do not issue refunds for partially used billing periods.
• You must be 13 or older to create an account.

1. Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using MockRound at mockround.ai (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

These Terms apply to all visitors, registered users, and paying subscribers.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years of age to use the Service. By creating an account, you represent that you meet this requirement. If you are between 13 and 18 years old, you confirm that a parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf.

We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If we become aware that we have done so, we will delete the relevant account and data promptly.

3. Account Registration

3.1 Creating an Account

You may register using a supported third-party authentication provider (currently: Google, Microsoft, GitHub, Facebook, Discord, and X/Twitter). You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity that occurs under your account.

3.2 Accuracy of Information

You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and to keep it up to date. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts containing materially false information.

3.3 Account Security

You must notify us immediately at legal@mockround.ai if you suspect unauthorised access to your account. We are not liable for losses caused by unauthorised use of your account where you have failed to maintain reasonable security.

4. The Service

MockRound is an AI-powered interview simulation platform. It enables you to:

• Conduct simulated voice or text-based interviews tailored to a specific role, company, and interview type.
• Upload a CV or résumé and job description to generate contextualised interview questions.
• Receive AI-generated performance feedback and scoring after each simulation.
• Review transcripts and session reports from past simulations.

4.1 No Employment or Career Advice

All feedback, scores, and analysis generated by MockRound is for practice and self-improvement purposes only. It does not constitute professional careers, recruitment, or legal advice. Past simulation performance does not predict or guarantee success in real interviews. MockRound is not affiliated with any employer or recruiting organisation.

4.2 AI Limitations

Our AI systems may produce inaccurate, incomplete, or inconsistent output. Interview questions and feedback may not accurately reflect the practices of any specific company. You should independently verify any factual claims made in AI-generated content.

5. Subscriptions and Billing

5.1 Plans

MockRound offers the following tiers:

Session counts reset at the start of each new billing period for paid plans. Unused sessions do not roll over.

5.2 Billing and Payment

Payments are processed by Stripe, Inc. All prices are displayed inclusive of applicable taxes where required. By subscribing, you authorise us to charge your payment method on a recurring monthly or annual basis (depending on the plan selected) until you cancel.

We do not store your full card details. These are held securely by Stripe in accordance with PCI-DSS standards.

5.3 Auto-Renewal and Cancellation

Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period. You may cancel at any time through your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid period; you retain access to your plan's features until that date.

5.4 Refunds

We do not provide refunds for billing periods that have already commenced, except where required by applicable law. If you believe you have been charged in error, contact us at legal@mockround.ai within 14 days of the charge.

5.5 Price Changes

We reserve the right to change subscription prices. We will give you at least 30 days' advance notice of any price increase, and you will have the opportunity to cancel before the new price takes effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the new price.

6. Free Tier

The free tier allows one lifetime session per account. Free accounts are subject to availability and may be modified or withdrawn at any time with reasonable notice.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law.
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract the source code of the Service.
• Use automated tools (bots, scrapers, crawlers) to access the Service without our written consent.
• Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Service or its infrastructure.
• Upload or transmit malicious code, viruses, or any other harmful content.
• Impersonate any person or entity, or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity.
• Use the Service to generate, store, or transmit content that is unlawful, defamatory, obscene, or harassing.
• Use the Service in a way that could harm MockRound's reputation or business interests.
• Share, resell, or sublicense your account access to third parties.
• Use the Service to compile competitive intelligence or develop a competing product.

We may suspend or terminate accounts found to be in breach of this section without prior notice.

8. Your Content

8.1 Ownership

You retain all intellectual property rights in the content you upload or generate through the Service, including CVs, job descriptions, and any text you type during simulations ("Your Content").

8.2 Licence to MockRound

By using the Service, you grant MockRound a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to process, store, and transmit Your Content solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you. We do not use Your Content to train AI models without your explicit consent.

8.3 Responsibility for Content

You represent that you have the right to upload and use all content you submit, and that doing so does not infringe any third party's intellectual property, privacy, or other rights. You are solely responsible for Your Content.

9. MockRound Intellectual Property

All elements of the Service not constituting Your Content — including the platform design, software, algorithms, AI models, trademarks, and brand assets — are owned by or licensed to MockRound. Nothing in these Terms grants you any rights to use MockRound's intellectual property other than as necessary to use the Service.

10. Third-Party Services

The Service integrates with third-party services including Microsoft Azure (infrastructure and AI), Stripe (payments), and third-party authentication providers. Your use of those services is governed by their respective terms and privacy policies. MockRound is not responsible for the practices of third parties.

11. Service Availability

We aim to provide a reliable service but do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. We may suspend the Service for maintenance, updates, or reasons beyond our control. We will endeavour to provide reasonable notice of planned outages where possible.

12. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the Service will be error-free, that defects will be corrected, or that the Service is free of viruses or other harmful components.

13. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, MockRound and its directors, employees, and agents shall not be liable for:

• Any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages.
• Loss of profits, revenue, data, business, or goodwill.
• Damages arising from your reliance on AI-generated feedback or simulation results.
• Any matter beyond our reasonable control.

Where liability cannot be excluded entirely, our total liability to you for any claim arising out of or related to these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim or (b) £100 GBP.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be lawfully excluded.

14. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless MockRound and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from: (a) your breach of these Terms; (b) your use of the Service; or (c) Your Content.

15. Termination

15.1 By You

You may close your account at any time through your account settings or by contacting us at legal@mockround.ai. Upon closure, your subscription (if any) will be cancelled at the end of the current billing period.

15.2 By Us

We may suspend or terminate your account immediately if: (a) you materially breach these Terms; (b) we are required to do so by law; or (c) continued operation of your account would cause harm to us or other users.

15.3 Effect of Termination

Upon termination, your right to access the Service ceases immediately. We will delete your personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy. Sections 7, 8.2, 9, 12, 13, 14, and 16 survive termination.

16. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

If you are a consumer based in the EU or Northern Ireland, you may also have the right to refer a dispute to an alternative dispute resolution body and to use the EU Online Dispute Resolution platform at https://ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.

17. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For material changes, we will notify you by email or by a prominent notice in the Service at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Continued use of the Service after that date constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

18. General

• Entire Agreement. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and MockRound regarding the Service.
• Severability. If any provision is found unenforceable, it will be severed and the remaining provisions will continue in full force.
• Waiver. Failure to enforce any provision of these Terms is not a waiver of our right to do so in the future.
• Assignment. You may not assign your rights or obligations under these Terms without our written consent. We may assign our rights and obligations (e.g. in connection with a sale of the business) without restriction.
